Le D-Link DSM-510 est ce qu’on peut appeler une passerelle multimédia qui permet d’accèder aux contenus stockés sur vos ordinateurs en les affichant sur votre téléviseur. Un outil bien pratique donc pour visualiser instantanément les données sans passer par une copie préalable sur un support de stockage.
Cela permet donc de visualiser photo et video et d’écouter tous les fichiers musicaux présents sur votre ordinateur. Le DSM-510 prend en charge les formats les plus communs(même en HD) et les restitue en 720p ou 1080i. La lecture peut se faire en Ethernet câblé ou en mieux, en WiFi (car effectivement, on n’a pas forcément sa TV près de son ordi…)
D’une taille agréablement réduite le DSM-510 prend place sur un socle et offre en façade un port USB permettant la lecture des fichiers depuis une clé USB par exemple.
Pour la connectique principale nous avons donc une sortie mini jack audio/vidéo, une sortie HDMI, une sortie SPDIF, le port Ethernet et la connexion pour l’adaptateur secteur sans oublier l’antenne WiFi qui se déplie sur le côté (elle est assez mastoc en revanche…). La connexion à une TV cathodique impliquera l’utilisation de l’adaptateur mini jack fourni qui offre une sortie audio RCA et vidéo composite. Un second adaptateur permet ensuite de basculer en péritel.
On dispose bien sur d’une télécommande semblable à celle d’un lecteur DVD par exemple. Toutes les fonctionnalités y sont présentes et permette de gérer efficacement et facilement l’environnement du lecteur.
Côté formats, le DSM-510 lit en vidéo : MPEG-1/2/4, WMV9, XviD, DivX, DVR-MS, AVI, en audio : MP3, WMA, WAV, AIFF, Ogg et en image : JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PNG, Gif…
Une fois la TV allumé, vous découvrez l’interface épurée du lecteur qui offre un menu direct pour le périphérique USB. En cliquant dessus vous parcourez le contenu du support de stockage. En sélectionnant le menu Serveur dans l’interface vous arrivez sur la liste des serveurs UPnP. La consultation se fait tout aussi aisément. Le lecteur propose des menus vidéo, photo et musique. En sélectionnant vidéo par exemple l »interface nous propose : Album, Genre, Toutes les vidéos et Favoris. Les paramètres sont donc ici un peu farfelu compte tenu du format choisi ; en effet « album » ou « genre » n’ont rien à faire là. De plus lorsque l’on parcours ces différents classement, on se retrouve sur des pages vides… Par contre le module musique fonctionne parfaitement. Vous pourrez tout de même accéder à vos videos par l’interface principale mais il est dommage de ne pas pouvoir bénéficier au mieux de ce principe de classement par environnement. Concernant le module photo il propose un diaporama personnalisable dans lequel il est possible de jouer une piste musicale préalablement enregistrée dans les favoris.
Le DSM-510 est certifié Intel ViiV. Pour en profiter pleinement votre ordinateur doit également être certifié ce qui pas le cas de nos ordinateurs. Cette restriction n’est pas dramatique mais avec un PC certifié la configuration est un peu plus simple et l’on peut bénéficier de contenu en ligne.
Le DSM-510 proposé par D-Link est une réussite grâce notamment à sa petite taille et sa facilité d’installation et d’utilisation. Le lancement de fichiers et la navigation dans les dossiers sont rapide grâce à une interface bien conçu. On peut regretter quelques soucis de lecture des fichiers videos avec surtout la restriction concernant certains fichiers DivX. Cette passerelle multimedia reste un outil bien conçu et bien pratique pour la vision de photos en priorité. Concernant la video, ça aurait pu être un super lecteur de films Divx mais les soucis de lecture de certains formats videos entachent cette fonction.
